Admission Requirements
Kindergarten from the age of 3
- appropriate social behavior
- no knowledge of German necessary
- non-German speaking children should attend our kindergarten for at least 2 years before they transition to elementary school
- one parent or legal guardian must be regularly reachable and speak either German or English
Ages: 6–9 — Grades 1–4
- appropriate social behavior
- native fluency in German
- children coming from a non-German school system must take an admissions test (generally German and mathematics)
Secondary Education I — 5th grade and up
The child’s German language skills, both spoken and written, must be sufficient enough such that they can understand and follow classes taught in German.
If the school is unsure of an applicant’s command of the German language, they must take a test. The results of this test decide the admission.
Children with poor German knowledge must partake in our Language Support Program. Fees apply.
For education-conducive cooperation with our teachers, at least one legal guardian must be regularly reachable and speak either German or English. Communication via friends or other intermediaries is not adequate.
Admissions for non-German speaking newcomers is possible via our German Preparation Course.
Secondary Education II — 10th grade and up
Native fluency in spoken and written German is required, as well as French as a second language.
If the school is unsure of an applicant’s command of the German language, they must take a test. The results of this test decide the admission.
Admission to 10th grade is possible via our Guest Student Program. Admission to certificate-relevant grades is only possible via permission granted in advance by the German Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK).
Ages: 10–12 — 5th grade
Within limited space, girls and boys between the ages of 10–12 with insufficient knowledge of German may be admitted to CDSC upon successfully completing our German Preparation Course if they:
- display a high degree of learning competence, willingness and motivation,
- command sufficient foreknowledge in English and mathematics as well as the other subjects taught at CDSC,
- exhibit appropriate social and work behavior
- have at least one legal guardian who speaks English well enough to communicate with teachers and the school administration,
- partake in the additional, fee-based course “German as a Foreign Language” or “German as a second Language” in the scope recommended by the school,
- are able to attain, within one year, a level of language proficiency necessary to successfully engage in all school subjects.
Grade 10
This program is for students who have good social and work skills, a high motivation to learn, a willingness to integrate themselves in a foreign family and environment, a positive attitude towards the Christian school profile and support from their parents in their plans to fulfill the personal requirements for admission.
School requirements:
- Currently attending the 9th grade at Gymnasium
- Second foreign language (if possible from grade 6) is French
- Currently taking the following subjects: German, Mathematics, English, French, History, Geography, Physics and Biology. (Desirable, but optional would be: Protestant Religion, Music)
- Very good knowledge of English
- Overall above-average academic performance
