When I was asked last fall if I would be interested in participating in an exhibition at Chiang Mai University’s art center with other international schools, I didn’t hesitate for long. Just as the actor needs the stage, the visual artist needs a platform where he can present his work.

Last Friday, February 21, 2025 at 6:00 pm, the exhibition was opened with about 200 people, 17 teachers / educators from CDSC, some parents were represented, as well as the exhibiting students. While the other international schools sometimes offer art up to the Abitur, our younger class 8 and 9 students were able to keep up excellently.

I’m not quite sure whether the students immediately understood what my aim was. Class 9, for example, photographed sections of the school grounds, which were then enlarged, painted in acrylic and then reproduced with tape. Class 8 focused on insects and reptiles, which were painted in acrylic, modeled in embossing foil and built in 3D from cardboard.

Working on a common theme is always very exciting because you can compare yourself, but you can also see that the theme gets you going and that different positions are revealed. Exhibiting together makes it even more exciting and creates a complete work of art. The students used applied mathematics to calculate the distribution of the pictures on the space provided.

To sum up, even if we sometimes grumbled, the exhibition will certainly remain an unforgettable experience for some of us and the classes came closer together.

A big thank you also goes to the helpers who helped us set up and who did not give up despite the failure of the air conditioning. By the way, some people hammered a nail into the wall for the first time and visited an exhibition for the first time in their lives. Last but not least, anyone who would like to visit the exhibition is invited to do so.
