The 30th anniversary of the CDSC
After numerous activities in the morning as part of the CDSC project day, the school’s anniversary celebration began in the evening at the Marriott Hotel. The guests arrived at 6 p.m., took their seats and waited eagerly to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the German school in Chiang Mai. Numerous guests from the German and Thai community in Chiang Mai, representatives and guests of honor from various institutions in the city and, of course, the CDSC staff, many parents, friends of the CDSC and students as well as Mr. Maximilian Müller as the envoy of the German Embassy in Bangkok were looking forward to the big evening, which was moderated by 11th grader Euphemia Peter.
When the evening finally got underway, the guests were treated to many honorable words and speeches from the various well-wishers, as well as cultural, dance and musical contributions, which were wonderfully performed and sung by our students. In addition to musical contributions under the direction of Ms. Caroline Brinkmann, there were two traditional Thai dances. One was performed by CDSC students and the other by our neighboring school. In addition, videos were presented that reviewed the past 30 years and included personal wishes and hopes for the future.
In the various speeches, including those by the Chairman of the Board David Nescholta and our principal Jörg Häger, the development of the CDSC was reflected upon. All speakers expressed their respect for how CDSC has developed over the years into a renowned and recognized school and pillar of the German school system abroad. Thanks were expressed to the school’s founder, the Marburger Mission Foundation, and the structural support of the German authorities (ZfA and KMK) as well as to the representatives of the CCT and the support of the German Embassy in Bangkok.
In addition, there were many opportunities to get to know different people and to talk to each other away from everyday school life. Eating, laughing and chatting together brought us closer together and the general atmosphere was very positive. There was a lot to see and hear and many positive impressions were received.
After two hours of the program, the buffet was opened and there was now time to eat, prepare for upcoming performances or continue chatting with people. As the evening drew to a close, the mood was relaxed and happy. It was a wonderful evening that passed far too quickly. The sense of community cohesion was palpable and everyone was looking forward to a hopefully wonderful future for the CDSC in line with the anniversary motto: “Together, for each other”. May there be many more celebrations at CDSC and may the school continue to develop in such a wonderful way!
The planning of this festive evening involved many people who organized for weeks in order to perfect everything and provide the guests with an unforgettable evening. The CDSC would like to thank all the supporters and helpers who made this evening possible, including class 10, Mrs. Brinkmann, the dance group, the musicians, dancers, speakers, Mr. Stemmer and Mr. Hester, Mrs. Janfrüchte and all those who have been forgotten here. A special thanks goes to Euphemia, who accompanied the evening so brilliantly, thank you all very much.
