What a day in the pool! At the Senior Swimming Competition hosted by PTIS on Monday, 26 October, our CDSC swim team showed what talent, teamwork and determination can achieve. Competing against ten other schools with just seven swimmers, CDSC secured an impressive 5th place overall. With numerous medals, three new records and two spectacular relay victories, it was a day to remember!

Three Records and Six Gold Medals for Anna!

The star of the day was Anna Chen from Grade 7. She made an incredible achievement by setting three new records in the nearly 25-year history of the CMAC. Each time, the digital scoreboard displayed the letters “NR” – New Record! And she was far from finished: Anna won six gold medals in total and was crowned the Overall U14 Champion. What an outstanding performance!

Her teammates also delivered impressive results, earning valuable points for CDSC throughout the competition. Natalie excelled in the U16 category, winning gold in the 100m breaststroke as well as in both relay events. Yifan, Sissi, Yul, Emma and Pia also achieved excellent results, demonstrating the strength and potential of our swimming team.

Double Gold – and Excitement Until the Very Last Second!

Dark clouds gathered after the lunch break, and a thunderstorm warning threatened to bring the competition to an early end. Fortunately, the relay races were still able to take place – and they turned out to be the absolute highlight of the day!

Our swimmers competed together in the 200m medley relay and the freestyle relay. The result? Two races, two gold medals for CDSC!

The freestyle relay delivered particularly thrilling moments. Another school was initially in the lead and had built what seemed to be an unassailable advantage on the final lap. But our team refused to give up! In the final five metres, our swimmers launched an incredible comeback, touching the pad just in time to take the victory. Gold for CDSC!

The U16 girls also showed outstanding composure under pressure, delivering a final burst of speed to secure the team’s second relay victory of the day. What a finish!
