The school community bid farewell to the summer holidays with a festive and varied devotion on the theme of “Full – fulfilled.” Students, teachers, parents, and guests enjoyed a morning that encouraged reflection but also conveyed a great deal of joy and a sense of community.
The motto of this year’s closing service referred to a central attitude to life shared by many people: our everyday lives are often “full” – packed with appointments, pressure to perform, trends, and expectations. But what truly fulfills us? In various contributions, the students showed that it is not external abundance that enriches our lives, but values such as love, friendship, and faith.
A particular highlight was the play performed by the 9th grade, in which they portrayed how friendship often disappears behind the pressure to succeed, social media trends, and the constant pursuit of recognition – and how important it is to reflect on genuine interpersonal relationships. The message: Success and speed may impress, but only friendship and trust provide lasting fulfillment.
The service was accompanied by music from various groups. Piano, flute, and trumpet provided atmospheric accompaniment to the songs sung together and created a festive atmosphere. The dance club provided moving moments with a creative choreography.
After the service, the ceremonial presentation of certificates took place in class groups – a moment that many students had worked towards for a long time. Afterwards, the school invited everyone to the big end-of-year party, which once again focused on the diversity and commitment of the students.
The 10th grade class thrilled the audience with their musical contribution “Atemlos durch die Nacht” (Breathless Through the Night) and created a party and dance atmosphere that is not usually seen in the sports hall. The 11th grade class’s performance of “From Now On” from the musical The Greatest Showman was emotional, and our teacher Mr. Hester showed off his talent as a singer. Phenomenal! The elementary school also took the opportunity to shine with an energetic performance of “No Roots.”
The farewell was an emotional moment: not only were students leaving the school, but also some kindergarten children and staff members who are embarking on new paths. They were thanked for their commitment with warm words.
To top it all off, the 11th grade invited everyone to sing the CDSC song together – a moment of togetherness that once again made the motto “Fully fulfilled” very tangible: fulfilled with music, community, gratitude, and anticipation for what is to come.
This successful celebration brought the school year to a particularly moving close – and left everyone feeling a little more “fulfilled” as they headed into the holidays. Have a great vacation and come back healthy!
