On Friday, 19 June, the Christian German School Chiang Mai marked the end of the 2025/26 academic year with a joint church service followed by a closing ceremony. Students, parents, and staff came together to reflect on the past school year, celebrate achievements, and bid farewell to members of the school community embarking on new journeys.
The day began with a solemn church service led by Oliver Buck. In his personal and heartfelt address, he reflected on the challenges and special moments of the past year and reminded everyone of the importance of solidarity, gratitude, and hope in building a strong and caring community.
A special musical highlight was provided by the students of the GPC programme, who performed several German songs. They were accompanied by Inge Holzigel on the piano and Jonas Winterhalder on the trumpet. Considering that the students only began learning German in January, their performance was all the more remarkable. With great enthusiasm and joy, they captivated the audience and were rewarded with warm applause.
Following the church service, the closing ceremony took place. In their speeches, representatives of the school board and the principal looked back on an eventful academic year and acknowledged the achievements and dedication of the entire school community.
This was followed by the recognition of the top-performing students of the academic year. Honoured were those who achieved the highest grade point averages in their respective year groups through outstanding academic performance. The entire school community acknowledged their hard work, perseverance, and dedication with enthusiastic applause, celebrating the commitment that contributed to these remarkable achievements.
As every year, an important part of the ceremony was the farewell to students, volunteers, and interns who will be leaving CDSC to embark on new paths and pursue exciting opportunities ahead. A particularly touching moment was provided by the kindergarten children, who dedicated a farewell song to the volunteers on stage. With their cheerful performance and heartfelt enthusiasm, they touched the audience and were rewarded with enthusiastic applause.
The most emotional moment of the ceremony came with the farewell to the staff members who will be leaving the school at the end of the academic year. The CDSC community expressed its heartfelt gratitude for their outstanding commitment and contributions over the years:

It was a moving moment that beautifully reflected the strong bonds and sense of community that define CDSC.
The entire school community extends its sincere thanks to all departing colleagues for their dedication and wishes them every success and happiness in the future.
