Sometimes, all it takes is a single moment to make a difference. When sixth-grade student Seven Wang saw a stray dog in Chiang Mai, she felt a strong desire to help. That encounter eventually led to a fundraising campaign at CDSC – supported by fellow students, dedicated teachers, and a school community that came together to make a positive impact.
With courage, compassion, and determination, Seven and her team raised 3,050 Baht for animal welfare organizations in Chiang Mai. In her personal story, she shares how a simple idea turned into a successful project – and why every individual has the power to make a difference.
My name is Seven Wang, and I am a student in Grade 6 at CDSC.
I have a dog myself, and animals mean a lot to me. Unfortunately, there are many stray dogs in Chiang Mai. A few months ago, while I was out walking with my parents, I saw a stray dog. I really wanted to take it to a hospital, but unfortunately, that wasn’t possible. We stayed and watched the dog for a while, and then suddenly an animal rescuer from an organization arrived. At that moment, I knew that I wanted to help people like them.
That’s when I came up with the idea of organizing a small fundraiser at my school’s Friday Market. I was very nervous when I asked if we could do it, but our teacher, Mr. Winterhalder, and our teacher, Ms. Feick, promised to support us. In the end, around twelve students joined in, and together we sold cookies, brownies, and cakes.
It was wonderful to see how many people wanted to support animals and bought something from us. In the end, we raised 3,050 Baht, which we were able to donate to Hand to Paw and WVS (Worldwide Veterinary Service).
A very special moment for me was when we counted the money together at the end and realized how much we had actually raised. I felt very happy and also a little proud because my idea had really turned into something big.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone who helped: the students, the teachers, and of course everyone who contributed, baked, bought something, or donated. Without you, this fundraiser would not have been possible.
