„The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.“ (Eleanor Roosevelt)

As they embark on new journeys, we proudly congratulate the graduates of this year’s German International Abitur class:

Conrad Ahlborn, Jonathan Armstrong, Dominik Baldes, Justin Bergmann, Jun (June) Heo, Daehyun (Thomas) Ko, Tobias Kohler, Natthi (Pooh) Kongphopnitiwat, Levi Kramlich, Justin Kurzweg, Elias Nescholta, Elina Nowak, Calvin Schmid, Anda Schottstädt (alle Kl. 12)

This past Saturday, May 24, 2025, the moment had finally arrived: in the festively decorated and state-of-the-art event hall of the Marriott Hotel in Chiang Mai, equipped with stunning LED walls, we had the honor of congratulating fourteen exceptional young individuals on a very special milestone—the successful completion of the German International Abitur 2025.

The graduation ceremony began in a spirit of tradition with the national anthems of Thailand and Germany—a symbolic and respectful opening for an event that celebrated cultural diversity and shared journeys. Immediately afterward, we welcomed our graduates with a musical entrance—each accompanied by their own soundtrack, yet all united in the grand finale of their school years.

Throughout the evening, the audience was treated to a series of appreciative and inspiring contributions: Mr. Jörg Häger, our principal, opened with personal words to the graduates, followed by heartfelt greetings from Mr. Sebastian-Justus Schmidt, German Honorary Consul in Chiang Mai, and Mr. David Nescholta, chair of the school board and representative of the school’s supporting body. A musical highlight was delivered by Grade 11, under the direction of Ms. Caro Brinkmann, before Mr. Matthias Niermann, homeroom teacher of Grade 12, bid farewell to his students with a speech that was both charmingly concise and humorously reflective. One of the most moving moments: the graduates’ own speech—a blend of humor, sincerity, and thoughtfulness—followed by a self-written class poem that beautifully reflected on their shared time at school.

In the second half of the ceremony, the graduates surprised us with a cross-generational musical performance, showcasing their talent and spirit one more time before the stage was cleared for the official presentation of the graduation certificates. A special thank-you goes to Mr. Kongkrapan Verusarod, Director of the Chiang Mai Provincial Office of the Ministry of Education, who in his address honored the significance of intercultural education.

With Gratitude, Pride, and Confidence

Graduating from school is more than just reaching the finish line. It’s a departure, a promise, and an invitation to the future. And our graduates of the Class of 2025—affectionately nicknamed “The Smurfs”—have shown great heart, courage, and community spirit on their journey toward this milestone. On behalf of the entire school community, we congratulate you warmly—on your achievements, your growth, and your unity. May curiosity, courage, and compassion accompany you on every step of your path!

„Don’t let them get you down. Be cheeky, wild, and wonderful!“ (Astrid Lindgren)

With this in mind: All the best, dear Class of 2025! Go out into the world with open eyes and open hearts—you already have everything it takes.

Warmly,

Yours, David Hester
