On January 24, 2026, the ThaiGer tournament took place once again at the Swiss School in Bangkok, to which we are invited every year and always travel with great pleasure.
The weather was great, there was a fantastic tournament atmosphere, and the fact that it was so successful made it all the more enjoyable for everyone. The core of the team has consisted of the same players for five years now and is regularly supplemented by dedicated parents, interns, and volunteers.
In the preliminary round, our Old Lions had to play four games to qualify for the final round. We met our old companion and former marketing manager Calvin, who was now playing against us instead of with us. We also met former colleagues and teachers, as well as many familiar faces we have known for years and have a good relationship with. Memories connect us.
With three wins and one defeat, the Old Lions finally reached the semi-finals, where, despite all their efforts, their journey to the final came to an end. In the match for third place, we faced Calvin’s team again. He scored another goal against us, which left us with mixed feelings, but of course gave us plenty of reason to laugh (and tease) afterwards. In the end, we achieved a respectable fourth place.
The day was marked by enthusiasm, wit, great team performances, and a wonderful atmosphere.
We look forward to everything that is still in the planning stages for this new school friendship.
Thank you all and see you next time.
