The first day of school after the Easter holidays began at our school with a special atmosphere: a shared Easter service – in fact, two of them.

Due to limited space, the event was divided into two parts. First, the kindergarten and primary school children gathered, followed by a service for the secondary students. Both celebrations were held for the first time in the newly redesigned cafeteria building. The modernized space, with its new windows and walls, created a noticeably pleasant environment – the air felt fresh and cool.

Musically, the service was shaped by communal singing, which fostered a sense of unity from the very beginning. Under the direction of Caroline Brinkmann and Sebastian Brendel, several wonderful songs invited everyone to join in. A particularly memorable moment was the performance by the kindergarten children, who contributed a song of their own, adding a lively and personal touch.

The event was opened by Chairman Timo Löwen, who welcomed the school community back after the four-week break and set the tone for this new phase.

A key message came from Oliver Buck, who centered his talk on the question of whether one can truly believe in the resurrection of Jesus. To make this abstract idea more tangible, he used a vivid comparison: an apple seed. From a small, seemingly insignificant seed, a large tree grows over time, bearing many apples. “Do you believe this?” – he connected this question to the Easter story: Jesus was buried and rose again. The analogy encouraged reflection and made the central message of Easter accessible in a simple and relatable way.

Overall, it was a successful event that not only provided meaningful inspiration but, above all, achieved one important goal: bringing the entire school community back together after the long holiday and enabling a shared, intentional start to the new school term.
