After a year off due to Covid-19, the children of the nursery, kindergarten and elementary school finally got to look forward to St. Martin’s again this year.
The past weeks were used to read and play the St.Martins story. Of course, colorful lanterns were made again and lantern songs were practised.
On the McKean grounds, the children met with their families and friends to get in the mood for the celebration with a rich buffet and a picnic together on the lawn. A big thank you goes to all the hardworking cooks and helpers who contributed something to the buffet and the organization of the feast.
At dusk, everyone gathered in the church to listen to the wonderful program rehearsed by the children and educators. The younger children performed a play, which was accompanied by songs about St. Martin. Elated by the enchanting children’s voices, the adults learned what St. Martin’s goose is all about.
Afterwards, the lighted children paraded through the streets with their shining lanterns and there was a lot of singing. In the end, there was stick bread on the fire. The children of the CDSC brought light into the hearts of the people in the truest sense of the word.
